I hope you are having a great summer.  I certainly have.  Rich and I have been so busy we have fallen behind on writing Referral Fire over the last two months, however, we are back.  Our adventures have given us lots of material to write about.

Nearly everything we do has an impact either positively or negatively on somebody.  That impact either grows the relationship or hurts it.

Every decision we make matters.  Kind of like when your spouse asks you to pick up some milk on the way home and you forget, or worse yet you tell your spouse you have had a tough day and they can get it themselves.  No shocker here, but this will not help your relationship.  Instead, try setting a reminder for yourself to do it anyway.  Go the extra mile and find out what kind they want, what brand, organic or not, etc.

Connections are awesomeI continue to be reminded that the power of connections is amazing.  Below is a short list of how connections have helped me this summer and the ripples from those events.

  • A connection booked a speaking engagement in France.  The ripple, my son got to join me for a trip to Europe.
  • A connection helped my son get into one of the top 20 universities in the country.  The ripple, confidence and expanded opportunity.
  • Another connection at the same school offered to hire him as a student worker.  The ripple, somebody to guide and help him.
  • A connection opened up the opportunity to take a small investment in two different companies that are in the process of making some major breakthroughs.  The ripple, financial success and moving toward my goal of investing in the success of others.

This is just to name a few.  Pay attention to your connections, build up the people around you.  Spend your days helping others in whatever small way you can.  As we become more technologically advanced it becomes even more apparent to me that our connections truly drive success.

Please reply with what your connections have done to help you recently.

Network Powerfully,

David
